Summary
Lays out, fits, and welds fabricated, and machined components for assembly by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Grinding/deburr parts as needed.
- Selects equipment and plans layout, assembly, and welding of steel and various high temperature and super alloys, per operating instructions.
- Lays out, positions, aligns, and fits components together using fixtures or templates as required.
- Bolts, clamps, and tack-welds parts using arc, gas - shielded arc, or gas welding equipment per welding parameter sheet.
- Assembles parts by bolting and fixturing per operation sketches ect.
- Reworks products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping, and reassembling parts following operation instructions and standard shop practices.
- Ability to operate various types of welding equipment.
- Welded parts must be capable of meeting F.P.I. quality. On occasion welding may require meeting x-ray quality and/or Aerospace standards, according to customer requirement.
Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Education and/or Experience
Certificate from college or technical school; or 2-5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Able to pass weld material certification testing.
Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Welding test and certification required per AWS D17.1. Annual eye exam required.
